Psychic Phenomena
Psychic phenomena, called miracles by some, are the expression of psychic powers onto the world of senses. H. P. Blavatsky – having herself the power to produce uncommon phenomena – challenged science to delve into their study and research, while she herself gave explanations as to the inner causes producing them. That is how there came about in the 19th century West the stream of psychism and relative phenomena – as old an issue as the world itself– the only difference being that this time many were those who started looking into them and accepting them.
Psychic powers and attendant phenomena such as telekinetics, meteorism, clairvoyance and materializations, communication with the invisible world together with the answers provided by science on them will be the subject-matter of a 2-day-meeting to be organized by Blavatsky Studies in Athens.
Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May31, 2009 –from 10 am to 6 pm – “Psychic Phenomena” will be dealt with, explained by speakers and discussed with participants.

Blavatsky Studies
Study-group focused on H.P. Blavatsky's writings
We are pleased to inform you on the inauguration of the annual “Blavatsky Studies” meetings in Athens. Our intention is to discuss Theosophical issues, mainly the fundamental concepts while questions and answers will contribute to their better understanding. During the meetings one single topic will be dealt with and all its facets explored, in such a way as to achieve the depth and the seriousness required.
The issues will reflect the teaching of H. P. Blavatsky’s and her Masters’, writings as well as those of the posterior Theosophists who succeeded to safeguard this line. The study admits references to the ancient Scriptures but students must be certain of the Theosophical interpretation of the reference quoted.
Theosophy given by H. P. Blavatsky’s writings is the renewal of the Perennial Wisdom which we, the students, have the responsibility to keep on its originality and the duty to pass it unaltered on to others.
We all are students of Theosophy and some who are students-teachers have to support the study for bringing it to deeper understanding. Theosophy being “the everlasting truth”, is the basis of education, science, art and culture for the present and for the days to come.
As H.P.B says in her book, “The Key to Theosophy is dedicated to all the pupils that they may learn and teach in their turn”. And her work was “To encourage the study of Theosophy and to disseminate its knowledge to the whole world”.
We welcome old and new Theosophists from all over the world as well as new researchers.
About Theosophy and the Theosophical Movement
Theosophy is the Ageless Wisdom, the source from which divine ethics and inner teachings emerged and are present in the heart of every religion. It teaches and investigates the invisible world and its laws, it points out the essential unity of all and sacredness in every form of life. It expresses inner knowledge by reciting invisible facts which become laws and rules in human life. It comes out and influences the human culture when time and place coincide with the laws of periodicity and karma.
A revival of Theosophy occured in the West in 1875 through the modern Theosophical Movement founded by H. P. Blavatsky and her collaborators H. S. Olcott and W. Ch. Judge. The Movement gave out inner information on human existence, mankind and the earth; this divine wisdom rekindled the Westerners relation with their inner self and with the laws that define inner and outer life. It is a teaching that sprung from the fount of Eternal Wisdom and is not related to personal opinions as it is in tune only with the teachings of the great Initiates of humanity.
In the Theosophical work which dawned during the 19th century, three factors stood out: the Masters of the Wisdom or the Elder Brothers, their messenger H.P.Blavatsky and the occult teaching.
The teaching recorded by H. P. Blavatsky under the supervision of her Masters of Wisdom was included in the books: “Isis Unveiled”, “The Secret Doctrine”, “The Key to Theosophy”, “The Voice of the Silence” and in a large number of articles all compiled in the fourteen volumes of the “Collected Writings”.
Human brotherhood and respect for all species of life express the ethics of the teaching based on the very fact that Life springs from the “ONE becoming many”. Through a comparative survey of world religions, mythologies and metaphysical teachings the essential unity of all beings, the ONE, becomes clearer for the student, awakening more elevated levels of consciousness and compassion.
The teaching is particularly significant as it is written down in texts available for study, research and confirmation of its prophecies. After so many years of scarcity of original writings we are perhaps being given a unique opportunity.
A brief outline of the Theosophical Teaching
The Theosophical teaching awakens the memory of our divine origin and helps us partake in the laws of the Universe. Its Cosmogenesis refers to the emergence of life and the formation of our earth. Its Anthropogenesis refers to the formation of our humanity and to its successive stages of evolution.
It points out to us the cyclic laws to be witnessed in the workings of nature and our own self. Giving special emphasis to the knowledge of the dual doctrine of karma and reincarnation, it renders us responsible for the choice of our decisions and for our full awareness of the purpose of our life.
Believing that “whoever knows of the mysteries of death holds the keys to life” it explains to us the phenomenon of death and its causes and also what happens in the after-death period.
It informs us of the seven principles underlying the Universe and man; of human existence and its relation to the inner forces and of the astral world that precedes our physical plane being its model. It interprets the psychic phenomena and defines their differences from the spiritual ones. The tips and clarifications on dreams, visions, prophecies and the forces producing and presenting the phenomena are so numerous and so clearly put that a considerable part of Western prejudices and superstitions originating in ignorance, in church and materialistic oppression have given way to research and scientific knowledge.
It reveals to us the occult side of mankind and the earth and defines the starting-point of the thread of human life millions of years ago, a fact nowadays beginning to be recognized thanks to modern science. It names the various stages of man’s evolution and gives a bold answer to the question of the purpose of life regarding the humans and the universe.
It particularly underlines the fact that the world is an aggregate of species all impregnated with life and conscience of their own kind. This forms an evolutionary ladder where the more developed spiritual Beings supervise and assist the less developed ones. It is to this hierarchical ladder that the Masters of Wisdom or Mahatmas belong supervising the spiritual progress of humanity as Elder Brothers.
The exposition of the latest appearance of the Ancient Wisdom is based on comparative references to the aspects of old religions and occult doctrines and ultimately intends to prove the One Common Source, called Theosophy.
